  • Workshop on "Assessment of Flood Inundation under the effect Climate Change in Lower West Rapti River Basin in Nepal" was jointly organized on 5th March 2012 by International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM) under the auspices of UNESCO Public Works Research Institute (PWRI), Tsukuba, Japan and Nepal Development Research Institute (NDRI), Lalitpur, Nepal.   • Nepal Development Research Institute (NDRI) is carrying out household and community surveys for Vulnerability and Adaptive Capacity Assessment (VACA) under the Climate Change Adaptation Programme (HICAP) in collaboration with International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). NDRI has recently completed household and community surveys in Khotang, Dolakha and Kavre Palanchowk districts of Koshi Basin. At present, the data from the survey is being processed and analysed. In addition, NDRI is also involved in entering and analyzing HICAP-VACA data of Udayapur, Sunsari and Siraha districts of Nepal, as well as Pakistan and India. NDRI plans to complete the first phase of HICAP-VACA data analysis by the end of March 2012.

  • On 25th September, 2011 two research presentations 1) Urban Agriculture Practices and Potential Application for Kathmandu, Nepal by Martin O` Donovan (NDRI Intern from Canada) and 2) NDRI`s New Website Pre-Discussion by Rajendra Bahadur Thapa (Web Developer, NDRI) were held at NDRI Conference Hall, Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
  • A Talk Program on “Varieties of Religiosity in the Nepali Diaspora” by Dr. Bal Gopal Shrestha, Research Fellow, University of Oxford, UK was held on Sunday 18th September, 2011 at NDRI, Conference Hall, Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
  • On 11th September, 2011, two research presentations 1) Opportunities Study of Potential Community Forestry based Enterprises (CFBE) by Mr. Gautier Fabert(NDRI Intern from France) and 2) Investigation of the Phosphate Adsorption in Wastewater on FerroSorp® Plus for Phosphorus Recovery Contribution to an Innovative Waste water Treatment by Mr. Surendra Gautam (NDRI Research Associate)were held at NDRI Conference Hall, Pulchowk Lalitpur.

  • Dr. Rabindra Wasti, Mr. Kazuhiko Fukami and Mr. Toshiya Uenoyama of International Centre for Water, Hazard and Risk Management – Public Work and Research Institute (ICHARM – PWRI), Japan visited NDRI. They were accompanied by NDRI Team (Dr. Punya Prasad Regmi, Dr. Divas Bahadur Basnyat and Mr. Surendra Gautam) in conducting preliminary field work on A Field Research on Assessment of Flood and Inundations in Lower West-Rapti River Basin of Nepal under the effect of Climate Change from 7th to 14th June, 2011.
  • NDRI organized Two Days Training on Strengthening Capabilities of NDRI Researchers in Proposal and Report Writing from June 1st to June 2nd, 2011 with participation of 26 individuals including NDRI staffs.

  • Their Excellencies Dr. Ganesh Yonzon, Current Ambassador of Nepal to Japan and Dr. Kedar Bhakta Mathema, Former Ambassador of Nepal to Japan visited NDRI on Feb 22,2011.. They were received at NDRI office by NDRI members and staff. A meeting was organized on the occassion  in which NDRI was introduced to them and a discussion on "Critical Thinking" was carried out.
  • Dr. Nawa Raj  Khatiwada attended the 2nd International Conference on Solid Waste Management in Developing Countries held on Khulna, Bangladesh from 13 -15 February 2011. He chaired a technical session and the following two papers were presented in the conference:Paper 1: Performance Evaluation of Solid Waste Fed Biogas Digesters Authors : Chanda Khadka, Isha Basyal, Tripti Kharel and Nawa Raj Khatiwada Paper 2: A Comparative Life Cycle Assessment of Fresh Paper and Recycled Paper Authors: Ritica Lacoul and Nawa Raj Khatiwa.
