Co-Creation Workshop: Sharing Practices, Shaping Resilience

Designed as inclusive and participatory platforms, the workshops brought together Community and Ward Disaster Management Committees, Community Forest User Groups, women’s groups, and farmers’ groups, local actors at the forefront of climate adaptation. Using participatory tools such as an interactive hazard prioritization exercise, Participatory GIS (PGIS), and group discussions, participants collectively identified flood-prone areas, local risk drivers, existing coping strategies, and gaps in current responses. Strong emphasis was placed on centering women’s voices and local knowledge, ensuring that lived experiences shaped the discussions and outcomes. 

These collaborative sessions strengthened community understanding of nature-based solutions and ensured that local knowledge directly informed decision-making. The workshops helped identify priority risk areas, highlighted practical and locally appropriate solutions, and fostered shared ownership of flood resilience strategies, empowering communities to actively contribute to building resilience against climate-induced disasters.  

Grounded in local participation, the co-creation workshops were conducted from 10 to 15 February 2025 across six municipalities in the Mohana-Khutiya River Basin of Sudurpaschim Province, Nepal, spanning Punarbas and Krishnapur in Kanchanpur District, and Gauriganga, Chure, Godawari, and Dhangadhi in Kailali District.
