Mr. Parashar Khadka

Research Associate (Public Health)

Mr. Parashar Khadka is a dedicated public health researcher currently serving as a Research Associate at the Health-Education-Environment Program at NDRI since February 2025. He holds a Master’s degree in public health (MPH) with a specialization in Global Health from the University of Washington, Seattle, United States (2022-2024), which he completed with a full scholarship through the Cardiometabolic Research and Training Program (CMRTP), funded by the Fogarty International Center, National Institutes of Health, U.S. In addition, he earned a Master’s degree in Rural Development (MARD) from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 2022, and an undergraduate degree in Public Health from Nobel College, Pokhara University, in 2016.

Mr. Khadka brings over five years of experience in cardiovascular disease (NCD) research, having previously worked as a Senior Research Assistant on the Nepal Pioneer Worksite Intervention Study at Dhulikhel Hospital – Kathmandu University Hospital. This project, funded by Yale and Harvard Universities, focused on preventing diabetes and hypertension in workplace settings from 2017 to 2022. His areas of expertise include project management, planning, coordinating project activities, translational implementation science research, data management and analysis, and monitoring and evaluation. During his MPH practicum, he served as a monitoring and evaluation trainee in Budhanilkantha Municipality, Nepal, where he contributed to improving the food environment and implementing the Food Procurement Act, working closely with government stakeholders and public facilities, including schools.

Mr. Khadka’s research interests cover a broad spectrum of public health topics, including non-communicable diseases, public health nutrition, environmental and livelihood-based research, implementation science, global health programs, and public health policy and advocacy. In his current role at NDRI, he is contributing to the Cancer Research UK-funded Tobacco Control Program under the supervision of Dr. Jaya Kumar Gurung, aiming to influence tobacco control policies through evidence-based advocacy.
