Senior Research Specialist (Agricultural Economics)
Prof. Punya Prasad Regmi, one of the founding members of NDRI, has almost four decades of experience in research and academia in Nepal and abroad. He has held several important leadership positions including the Vice Chancellor of the Agriculture and Forestry University, Vice Chair of the Karnali Province Planning Commission where he led the development of the first five-year plan for the province, founding Executive Vice Chairman of the Youth and Small Entrepreneur Self-Employment Fund, and Chief Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Finance.
He has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Asian Institute of Technology. He has served as a Visiting Professor at Hiroshima University, Research Fellow at the United Nations University, Japan, Visiting Researcher at the Graduate School of Agriculture and Agricultural Life Sciences, University of Tokyo, and a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Agricultural Economics, ETH, Switzerland.
Prof. Regmi has published over 60 journal articles as both a lead and co-author, along with several books and book chapters. He has led numerous research projects and has served as Advisor for 18 PhD students and over 50 Master students. Prof. Regmi has Ph.D. and Masters from the Asian Institute of Technology, and Bachelor in Agriculture Science from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Sciences in Rampur, Chitawan.
