Mitigating flood risks through women's leadership in EbA interventions (Global EbA Fund)

Nepal is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change threats and natural hazards. It is making several efforts to adapt to climate change and has made local adaptation plans such as Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPA) and the Local Disaster and Climate Resilience Plan (LDCRP).  However, the consideration of Nature based Solutions (NbS) or Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) measures is limited. Also, the role of women in climate change adaptation is not sufficiently emphasized. This project seeks to capture evidence of gender-responsive EbA measures from Nepal’s experience, identify the hotspots for climate adaptation interventions, and identify and prioritize EbA responses through a co-creation and co-design process with stakeholders. A watershed restoration plan with recommendation on EbA measures is the key output.
